Setting Up Google Workspace for CMMC

What Is This?

If your company uses Google Workspace and needs CMMC certification, Secureframe can set up your Google environment to be compliant — automatically.

Instead of manually configuring dozens of settings, our setup wizard does it for you in a few clicks.

We follow Google's CMMC Level 2 Implementation Guide.

What You Need

  • Secureframe Defense subscription with CMMC enabled
  • Google Workspace (Enterprise Standard)
  • Super admin access to your Google account

What Gets Set Up?

The wizard creates everything CMMC requires in your Google Workspace:

  • A secure folder for sensitive files — A shared drive where you can store CUI (Controlled Unclassified Information)
  • User groups — Organized by role, so the right people have the right access
  • Ongoing monitoring — Secureframe keeps watching to make sure nothing drifts out of compliance

You don't need to understand the technical details. The wizard handles it.

How It Works

  1. Start the wizard — Open the Google Workspace CMMC setup in Secureframe
  2. Connect your Google account — Sign in with super admin access so Secureframe can configure things
  3. Assign roles — Pick who handles sensitive data and who manages the system
  4. Done — Setup takes about 5 minutes, then everything is configured

After that, Secureframe monitors your setup and shows the compliance status in your dashboard.

After completing the initial setup, you can add users in the following ways:

  • Add users to CUI user group
  • Add users to workspace admin group

We don't recommend that you assign roles directly to users.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Does Secureframe access my files?
No. We only configure settings and verify they stay compliant. We never read your documents.

Can I undo this?
Yes. Everything we create can be removed from Google Admin Console if needed.

What if I add new employees later?
Just add them to the right group in Google — Secureframe will pick up the change automatically.
