Completing Employee Onboarding (Employee Guide)

Written by Brady Price

What you will complete

This guide is for employees and contractors who need to complete Secureframe onboarding tasks. You can share it in an employee handbook or new-hire packet.

Admins who need to configure onboarding settings or send invites should use the Employee Onboarding (Full Guide) instead.

Depending on what your company enabled, your onboarding tasks may include:

  • Policies – Read and acknowledge required company policies

  • Training – Complete assigned security or compliance training modules

  • Background check – Complete a background check or upload required documents

  • Device management – Install the Secureframe Agent on your work computer

Note: You may not see every task listed above. Your admin controls which steps appear for your role or personnel group.

How to get started

  1. Open the Secureframe invite email from your company.

  2. Click the invite link to sign in. If your company uses SSO (Google, Okta, Microsoft), sign in with SSO when prompted.

  3. After login, you will land in Employee Onboarding, where your open tasks appear in the left sidebar under Employee tasks.

Tip: If you are an admin who also has employee tasks, open your avatar menu in the top right and select Employee Onboarding to switch out of Monitoring.

Your Employee Onboarding tasks

The left sidebar lists each required task and shows your overall progress under Employee tasks. Select a task to open it. Incomplete items stay available until you finish them.

In the example above, Training is open. The same sidebar is how you move between Policies, Training, Background check, and Device management.

Accept policies

  1. In the left sidebar, click Policies.

  2. Open each required policy and review the content.

  3. Acknowledge or accept each policy when prompted.

  4. Continue until every required policy shows as complete.

Note: If the page is not in English, use the language selector in the top right to switch languages before you start.

Complete training

  1. In the left sidebar, click Training.

  2. Review the list of assigned modules. Each module shows a status such as In progress.

  3. Click Continue (or the equivalent start button) on a module.

  4. Complete the course and any quiz questions.

  5. Return to the Training page and repeat for any remaining modules.

Your company may assign one or more modules, such as Security Awareness Training, HIPAA, PCI, GDPR, CCPA, or Secure Code Training.

Other common tasks

Background check

  • Open Background check in the left sidebar and follow the on-screen instructions.

  • U.S.-based employees are often asked to complete a standard check. Employees outside the U.S. may be asked to upload a resume and references instead.

Device management (Secureframe Agent)

  • Open Device management in the left sidebar and install the Secureframe Agent on your work computer.

  • After installing, you may need to click the message that says you can pass the onboarding installation step if you already downloaded the agent or your operating system is not listed.

  • For OS-specific install steps, see Secureframe Agent: Employee Installation Device Guide.

How to know you are done

  • Your Employee tasks progress reaches 100%.

  • Each required item in the left sidebar no longer shows as incomplete.

  • If something still looks open after you finished it, refresh the page or sign out and back in. If it still does not update, contact your Secureframe admin or [email protected].

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

I never received an invite email. What should I do?

  • Ask your Secureframe admin to confirm your email on the Personnel record and use Resend Invite from the three-dot menu.

  • Check spam or quarantine folders for a message from Secureframe.

I can sign in, but I do not see Policies or Training.

  • Open your avatar menu and select Employee Onboarding.

  • If those tasks still do not appear, your admin may not have enabled them for your personnel group.

Can my company put this guide in our employee handbook?

  • Yes. This article is written for employees and is intended to be shared as a new-hire walkthrough.
