Compliance issues rarely wait for your next login. With Slack notifications, Secureframe sends failing tests, outstanding personnel tasks, and other notifications straight to the Slack channels and DMs your team already works in. Every message links directly to the test, task, or page it's about, so you can act on it right away.
Early access: Slack notifications are currently in early access, and we're adding new notification types every week. If you'd like early access for your company, reach out to your Customer Success Manager. Microsoft Teams support is coming after Slack.
There are two ways to get notifications in Slack:
Shared channels: Admins send a notification type to a channel such as #compliance, so the whole team has visibility.
Direct messages: Each user can choose to get their own notifications as a Slack DM, alongside or instead of email.
Connect Slack (Admins)
Only Admins and Super Admins can connect Slack.
Go to Company settings → Notifications.
On the Slack card, click
Connect.Review the permissions in Slack and click
Allowto install the Secureframe app in your workspace.Back in Secureframe, the card shows Connected, along with the workspace name and who installed it.
Note: List of available channels is based on which channels the connecting has access to. They may click refresh channels to update this list.
If your company already connected Slack to push tasks from Secureframe, notifications use that same connection. To manage or remove the connection, click Manage connection on the Slack card.
Send notifications to a shared channel (Admins)
Go to Company settings → Notifications.
For each notification type, choose the Slack channel it should post to.
Choose a frequency, where the notification type offers one.
Click
Save.
A few things to know:
One channel per notification type. Each notification type can post to one channel for your whole company. Choosing a different channel moves it there.
Frequency changes affect the whole channel. Before you save, Secureframe confirms the change, since everyone in that channel will see it.
Personnel notifications name people. Secureframe warns you before you route them to a shared channel, so you can pick a channel with the right audience.
Owners are @-mentioned. In shared channels, test owners and people with outstanding personnel tasks are @-mentioned when Secureframe can match them to a Slack user. Otherwise, their name is shown.
Each channel shows who set it up, so admins know who to ask about a change.
Don't see a channel? Click
Refresh channelsto pull the latest list from Slack. Channel changes are paused until the refresh finishes.
Get notifications in a Slack DM (All users)
Go to My settings → Notifications.
Find the notification type you want. Turn on Slack.
Choose a frequency. The same frequency applies to both email and Slack for that notification type.
You can keep email on, turn it off, or use Slack only. The notification types you see depend on your role, the same as email notifications.
Note: If Secureframe can't send you a DM, the reason appears under the Slack toggle. See Why can't I turn on Slack DMs? below.
What you'll be notified about
Notification | What's included | Frequency | Can be sent to |
Test status changes | Tests that moved to Failing or At Risk, the status each test moved from, and its owners | Real-time, Daily, Weekly, or Biweekly | Channel or DM |
Test activity | Tests waiting to be promoted and promoted tests with pending updates | Daily, Weekly, or Biweekly | Channel or DM |
Admin summary | A snapshot of your compliance program, matching the admin summary email | Daily, Weekly, or Biweekly | Channel or DM (Admins) |
Owned by me | A summary of everything you directly own, such as your tests, tasks, and review items | Daily, Weekly, or Biweekly | DM |
Personnel tasks | In a channel: everyone with outstanding onboarding tasks and how many they have. In a DM: your own outstanding tasks | Daily, Weekly, or Biweekly | Channel or DM |
How messages are grouped
When several tests change status at the same moment, such as after an integration sync, Secureframe groups them into one message instead of posting each separately.
Digests show up to 10 items. If there are more, the message says how many and links to the full list in Secureframe.
If there's nothing to report, such as no outstanding personnel tasks, the digest isn't sent.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Does Slack replace email notifications?
No. Email and Slack are separate options for each notification type in My settings → Notifications. You can use either one or both.
Who can get Slack notifications?
Slack notifications are in early access and enabled per company. Once generally available, they'll be included on every plan.
Can a notification type post to more than one channel?
Not right now. Each notification type posts to one channel for your company, but any user can also get it as a DM.
Why can't I turn on Slack DMs?
The reason appears under the Slack toggle. Common causes:
An admin hasn't connected Slack yet.
Secureframe can't match your Secureframe account to a Slack user, usually because the email addresses are different.
Your Slack account is deactivated.
The Secureframe app no longer has permission to post in your workspace. Ask an admin to reconnect Slack.
Why don't I see my company's channel settings in My settings?
Shared channels are managed by admins in Company settings → Notifications. My settings only controls your own email and DM notifications.
A channel is missing from the list. What do I do?
Click Refresh channels in Company settings → Notifications to sync the latest channels from Slack.
What happens if we disconnect Slack?
All Slack notifications stop, along with any tasks pushed to Slack. Each user's email notifications aren't affected.
Is Microsoft Teams supported?
Not yet. Teams notifications are coming after Slack.
